Adam Moritz

Adam grew up in a musical family and has been playing music ever since he can remember. As a young boy, he participated in family jam sessions at his grandparents’ house, which included classic bluegrass and country. It is during this time that his grandfather taught him to play the banjo. By age 13, he was experimenting with different styles of music and, inspired by the Metallica Black album, began teaching himself guitar. He jammed in various bands throughout high school as a guitarist, bassist and singer. By the late 90s, he was fronting the 3-piece original metal band Solder as the lead guitarist, vocalist and songwriter. He continued to write and play in original bands throughout the following decade. In 2009, Adam desired a return to his roots and underwent a mentorship through Jumpstart Academy to learn pedal steel. He began performing as a steel player and guitarist with his wife’s band, Virago. Adam was asked to join 5 of Hearts in 2011 and is pleased with the opportunity to play with this group of talented and professional musicians.
